Like everyone else said, these are super absorbant. Nothing is gettin' THRoug. They are though pretty bulky and after I prepd them they didn't seem quite as soft as when they arrived. But as a doubler they are the BEST.
OK, so you can see from all of the other reviews that they work great, so I'll tell you about how pretty they are now that I have Dyed them using PROcion MX dyes. They are by far the most vibrantly colored diapers in the lot ( I also did some Chinese prefolds & Motherease diapers). And having them in all of these beautiful colors takes some of the drudgery out of all of the diaper changes! My only complaint is that they are not as soft as the Chinese (or Indian) preflds.
I never wanted to use prefolds because they seemed complicated and too much of a hassel. Well, I gave in and bought a few of these because several people told me they were excellent night time diapers. They were right! I swear, these things could hold back flood waters. This is the first diaper I reach for as a night time diaper. And if you do the bikini twist fold, these will be the trimmest fitting diaper you have.
These are great for night time - they absorb a ton! They pin very nicely. I only gave 4 stars though because after about 10-12 months of use they start to get a little holey and not just where they are pinned. But they still work great, even though. This diaper was a workhorse for us. I would recommend 2-3 if you wash every 2 or 3 days.
I use these as inserts in my Fuzzi Bunz diapers at night. (I add a thin microterry towel.) They hold up very well all THRough the night. I like that they are not too thick, but hold so much in. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a night time diapering solution.
Extremely absorbant, and last THRough the night for my heavy wetter. They are VERY hard to get diaper pins THRough so I would suggest getting a diaper cover that removes the need for them. Be warned, they put off a lot of large fibers in their first couple of washings. If your washing machine is newer and recycles water the fibers could clog your pump. So either use an older washing machine for the first couple of washes or take them to the laundromat for those first washes. Keep washing them until they no longer leave stray fibers in the wash water. I did this and had no PROblems w/ my newer washing machine after the stray fibers were gone.
I purchased my first ever cloth diapers right here, a 12 pack of FBs with Hemparoo Prefolds... I had talked to several ppl before starting to use cloth, so I knew that I would have to wash and dry these Prefolds several times before they would become fully absorbant. I'm very pleased with them overall. Hemp has the tentency to stiffen over time, but I just used a bit of vinegar in my final rinse and was happy with the results.
I bought enough joey bunz to double up at night and one of these to try out and honestly i like doubling the joey bunz better than the prefold. The prefold is just not as absorbant so I use it but I know I'll have to change my son as soon as he gets up in the morning instead of the mornings with the two joey bunz...on those mornings he can hang out for a bit until I get to that part.
These diapers are very absorbent and we used them for a long time at night. The fabric became so rough after several washes that I started using KISsaluvs or a chinese prefold under the Hemparoo, which wasn't a PROblem since our heavy wetter always needs double diapering. These diapers are quite hard to snappi and very hard to get pins THRough. We bought the largest size and the diapers are now too small for our 2 1/2 y/o. Very absorbent diapers, but you may want to plan on using a softer diaper under them and a very snug fitting wrap, since they are so hard to pin/snappi.
I use the joey-bunz most of the time, so I thought I'd try these out. Wow! They're wonderful. I'm so pleased I found them! They're a little bulky for day time, but for night, they are perfect. They're also great even in the day for the longer outtings or car trips where you know you'll be longer between changings. Super!
These are totally worth the extra money. My son wets THRough EVERYTHING. I cloth diaper part time, and while I intended to only cloth diaper during the day, I ended up using Hemparoo fleece Prefolds for night time just because they were the only thing that he woke up dry with. So soft, too, really nice against his skin.
