FuzziBunz XSmall Size with Mother of Eden Microterry Inserts (Package of 12)

Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers hold up well for heavy wetters! They are made from a waterproof exterior and a soft micro-fleece interior. The soft outer material acts as a moisture barrier keeping all wetness and messes where they belong, preventing leaks. Buttery soft micro-fleece is the material next to the baby's skin wicking moisture away from the baby to help keep your baby dry. Each FuzziBunz pocket cloth diaper comes with an insert. The moisture is drawn into the insert or prefold in the pocket of the diaper. How do you use FuzziBunz? You place an insert or prefold (not included) into the FuzziBunz pocket and place it on your baby by fastening the snaps. We recommend adding additional hemp inserts or hemp prefolds for night time or use two FuzziBunz inserts for extra absorbency.

What Do We Use for Inserts?

Thanks Mama highly recommends Joey Bunz, Mother of Eden Microterry Inserts, and Babykicks Hemparoo Prefolds as inserts. The FuzziBunz cloth diaper comes with one Mother of Eden microterry insert. Normal wetters should need one insert during the day and at least 2 inserts at night. Heavy wetters will need more. What it all comes down to is that you need something absorbent in the pocket. Some people have used dish towels and washcloths with success. Joey Bunz and Mother of Eden Microterry inserts are a trim option while the Babykicks Hemparoo Prefolds are great for heavy wetters.

Caring for your FuzziBunz

FuzziBunz cloth diapers are single use diapers. Wash both the FuzziBunz and insert after each use. Most babies will experience little to no diaper rash after using FuzziBunz. Do not use any rash or diaper ointments or creams with the cloth diapers. When wet, separate insert and FuzziBunz and store in a dry diaper pail. If soiled, simply knock solids into toilet. Small solids stuck to the fleece will dissolve in the wash. Use a mini-shower toilet attachment to rinse off soiled cloth diapers over the toilet (optional).

Washing/Drying your FuzziBunz

First, run a cold rinse or soak cycle with no detergent. Second, run a hot cycle with detergent. Do not use bleach. Third, if your hot wash is not automatically followed by a cold rinse, run a cold rinse cycle. This step only necessary with a particularly dirty load. Tumble dry the diapers in dryer on low or hang to dry. Do not use fabric softener or pure soap. Never dry on high heat.

Why Fleece??

Fleece especially micro fleece quickly wicks moisture away from the baby and dries. Other fabrics were considered for this stay dry layer but none performed as well as fleece. It was also softest next to baby's skin.

Why a pocket? Why not sew everything together?

One word...sanitation. FuzziBunz is very big on getting things 100% clean. Having multiple layers of material, plus a layer of fleece, plus a waterproof cover would have been conducive to bacteria breeding. FuzziBunz tested that and the result was horrid.

There are two other benefits to the pocketed design. A) You can add or decrease the amount of absorbency for day or nighttime B) Since both parts are removable drying time is significantly decreases.

Really? No Stains?

No stains. Fleece is a polyester material and polyester does not hold stains. They also do not shrink unlike cotton diapers.

Easy to use?

Very easy. Since there is no additional stay dry liner, pins or cover, they are just as easy to use as a disposable. Dad's and grandparents rave about these diapers too.

What about inserts?

FuzziBunz can be used with anything in the pocket that is absorbent. Hand Towels do a great job. But so do a number of other things. Prefolded diapers were the original insert. BabyKicks Hemparoo Joey-Bunz are six layers of absorbent hemp/cotton jersey that are only 1/8 of an inch thick, especially for use with FuzziBunz.

What about caring for them?

FuzziBunz are very easy to care for. No special attention is needed for them. We have a page on this website telling about how to care for your FuzziBunz.

How do they save money over other methods?

Your baby is using less diapers because they are staying dryer longer. One size will fit for at least 6-12 months depending on size of baby and diaper. They cut on energy cost because less drying time is needed. There are obvious savings over disposable.

How to Care for your FuzziBunz:

Wash your FuzziBunz before using and after trying them on your baby for fit. FuzziBunz must be washed after each use. Use a laundry basket, or diaper pail to store dirty FuzziBunz and diapers until wash day. Some prefer to soak dirty diapers in a wet pail. **If you decide to do this your water should be changed daily**

When removing a dirty FuzziBunz from your baby shake, or knock any solid bowel movement from the FuzziBunz. You can rinse any residing BM off the cover if you would like, but this is not necessary. Pull the prefold or insert from the FuzziBunz before storing. They can all be washed together.

It is not recommended that you let your dirty FuzziBunz and prefolds / inserts sit too long before washing. Odors may set in.

On wash day, run the dirty FuzziBunz and diapers in a cold soak or prewash. If you do not have a soak cycle, run them through a rinse cycle. If you have already soaked your diapers in a pail, spin out any remaining dirty water.

Wash your diapers in the warm setting. If you are worried about bacteria add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to the wash. You can also use Calgon water softener for extra cleaning power and prevent detergent build up. Do not use vinegar or baking soda which can strip fabrics. If you must put these in the dryer put it on tumble low or air dry them for the best results. Just hang them on a "shorts" hanger in your laundry room. FuzziBunz recommends detergents found at www.allensnaturally.com and www.ecos.com. Use only 1/4 to 1/2 of the recommended detergent.

An additional rinse can be used for particularly soiled loads. Make sure that your diapers are rinsed clean. Any residue from poop, urine, detergent or vinegar can make your diapers stink!

FuzziBunz should not stain. Some diaper rash ointments will stain and care should be taken when using such products if you want your FuzziBunz to stay nice and stain free.

Do wash your FuzziBunz after each use.
Do make sure that there is a snug fit
Do make sure that you have the correct size for your baby.
Try to keep your FuzziBunz separate from other Velcro covers you may have. This may wear on the fibers.
Do contact the manufacturer if you have any problems

Do not use fabric softener or use pure soap products on your FuzziBunz.
Do not use mild detergents or softeners.
No bleach or exposure to high heat for prolonged periods of time.
Do no overuse detergent - only a little is needed to get the job done.

A word about "natural" cleaning agents
As noted above, you can not use pure "soap" products on your FuzziBunz because of the coating that they leave. Many "natural" detergents will do the same. We can not name them all because they are numerous but if you buy it in a health food store or have to order it from the internet you can probably group it in this category. Now this is not saying it will not work, if it does that is wonderful - keep using it. If you are using the "natural" cleaning agent and you are having leaking problems you have found your culprit.
