ERGOBaby Organic, Original and Performance Infant Insert

The ERGO baby Infant Insert is a specially padded and shaped cushion that can be quickly and easily placed in an ERGO baby carrier and readjusted as needed. This design easily enables parents to ensure that their newborn is positioned correctly on the pillow, keeping pressure off the developing sacrum, and supports the development of the spine and hips. It snaps closed around the infant, holding the baby in a cozy, protected environment close to the heart, as well as in an ergonomically correct natural sitting position.

Use the insert from birth through 4-6 months depending on your child's size and head and neck development. It typically can be used between 7-12 lbs. It can be adjusted to be snug or roomy depending on your baby's preference. The cushion inside the insert can be removed and used in the ERGO Baby Carrier without the insert when your baby gets older. You can continue to use cushion until your baby is comfortable in the carrier without it.

The ERGObaby Insert is available in three different versions:

Original

The body and the filling of the original insert are made from 100% cotton. The filling in the cushion is a PU foam base with a polyester fill batting. There is 100% cotton fill in the quilting.

Organic

The body of the organic insert is made out of 100% organic cotton. The filling is also made from 100% organic cotton.

Performance

The performance insert has 100% cotton poplin around the rim and a lining of wicking fabric. The fill is 100% cotton and the outer shell is mesh.

Because ERGObaby is very concerned about correct support of our babies, through research studies, customer feedback and working directly with newborns, they have designed the ERGO baby Infant Insert. The design encourages healthy maturation of the spine by supporting the pelvis, hip joint, and leg position rather than putting a baby in a compromising sitting position before the spine is ready. The ERGObaby Infant Insert also supports the safety of the baby's head and neck in this critical stage of development.

I purchased the insert to go with my ergo baby carrier for my daughter who was not quite 6 weeks old at the time. It held her head great and kept her supported well. It is not difficult to figure out how to get baby into either. She is able to see well out of it now (3 months old) which keeps her entertained while grocery shopping and she sleeps comfortable in it as well!

So I bought one of these to use with my infant so we coulduse the ERGo. HOnestly, I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to position this and my baby just so, so that we could get comfortable. It was cumbersome and got me frustrated. As soon as I tried to use the ERGo without this, even when he was pretty young, it worked perfectly and so much better! So maybe this works for others, but I did
