Cloth diapers are not all the same.   They come in a wide variety of styles and fabrics.  Whether you like bold or pastel colors, delightful prints, natural colors, or white there are cloth diapers to match your preferences.  Some of the most popular options in cloth diapering today are one size cloth diapers, pocket cloth diapers, all in one cloth diapers, and diaper covers with prefolds. 

One size cloth diapers are basically cloth diapers designed to adjust to fit for most, if not all, of your little one’s cloth diapering time.  They all have slightly different size recommendations, but most start fitting around 8lbs and are outgrown around 30-35lbs.  One size cloth diapers come in different styles.  There are one size all in one cloth diapers, one size pocket cloth diapers, one size fitted cloth diapers, and one size cloth diaper covers too. 

Pocket cloth diapers have a waterproof exterior and most have a stay dry layer up against baby’s skin.   There is an opening between the two layers to add an insert.  Pocket diaper inserts are made from absorbent material and sewn in a rectangular or contoured shape to easily fit in the pocket of the diaper.  Some parents use prefolds as absorbent material in the pocket.

All in one cloth diapers are cloth diapers with built in absorbency and a waterproof exterior.  They typically go on and off as easy as a disposable.  You can find them with snap or Velcro-style closures.

Prefold cloth diapers are soft and absorbent material sewn into a rectangular shape.  You can fold them and lay them inside a cloth diaper wrap or fold them and fasten them on your baby with diaper pins or a Snappi.  They have no waterproofing so you will need a cloth diaper cover.

Cloth diaper covers and prefolds are one of the most economical ways to cloth diaper.  Cloth diaper covers come in pull-on and wrap styles.  Pull-on diaper covers work well over fitted diaper or fastened prefolds.  Wrap styles can be used with fitted diapers as well as prefolds that are folded and placed in the wrap.
